City Link - Will it make me money?

Bridie O’Halloran is a sales manager with City Link south west and started training with Flexible Minds in the middle of 2010.  You can read about the impact of the training on the whole team here. As well as the workshop training sessions, Bridie had one-to-one sessions with Mark Webster, used the relaxation CDs and read some of the recommended books.

Bridie: “At the first session, I thought ‘this makes sense, but it doesn’t make sense’.  As I went through the training I realized it really makes sense.”  I’m quite impatient and always put off time-consuming tasks.  I’ve learnt to prioritise and get them done. I’m a lot more organised now.  I’ve learnt to focus on selling to new customers rather than dealing with existing clients: in other words to do my real job.”

Bridie: “I’ve learnt to question everything. Two or three times a day I find myself thinking ‘will this make me (or my company) money?’  Before the training, I tried to do everything.  This also applied to emails; I used to read them all, even the junk.  Now I focus on the emails that will make me money, reading them thoroughly and taking care with the responses.”

Bridie: “Similarly with my family I used to have lots of difficulties with my three children and particularly my 17 year old son.  I’ve learnt to think before I answer.  Is the request unreasonable? If it isn’t, then I’ve learnt to negotiate: they need to do something in return to get what they want.  I was so stressed before and now I’m much calmer: the children are more relaxed and happier too.  I can see an improvement in them all.

Testimonials

I’ve done lots of training in both sales and management development and I was pretty cynical. This was different; it wasn't forced upon me. I chose to do it.
